OUR LAKES
Designed and created by a fishing and nature enthusiast, Les Étangs de la Bassée is a tourist site located less than an hour east of Paris. The park opened in 2019, growing quickly and now including 34 hectares of greenery and nine lakes: Arôme, Idylle, Palmyre, Roselière, Atoll, Lagon, Wild and the Lagoon.

Every day, we focus our efforts on maintaining a biotope of the highest quality so that the fish have an environment in which they can thrive. Our lakes are supplied with water of exceptional quality.
ARÔME LAKE
Arôme is a little slice of paradise located at the entrance to the domain. It is set back slightly from the domain and entirely self-sufficient with its own dry toilets. It hosts the magnificent Ondine lodge with a panoramic terrace and a peninsula with a beach. This lake is small and intimate, like a natural cocoon that is far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Arôme lake’s stock is just as exceptional. There are wonderful koi weighing over 12 kg, as well as beautiful, combative common carp. Several specimens weighing over 20 kg and a mirror over 25 kg can be found here. Its smaller but select stock makes Arôme the lake with the highest average weight.
PEG 1: ARÔME LAKE BEACH
As its name implies, this peg is on a peninsula offering a 360° view of the lake. If you are fishing alone or with someone at this peg, all the bank areas can be fished by dropping from a boat. A sandy shoal with a few rocks is located in line with the peninsula. The right margin offers a vast bunch of seagrass where the fish love to come and feed on the edges. If there is an angler at peg 2, then only the right part of the lake is allocated.
Conditions: 2 anglers – 5 rods max
Orientation : The peg faces west and allows you to fish the entire right margin facing south, sheltered from cold winds.
Surface area: 20 m²
Water depth : Average 3.30 m. The depth varies from 2 m on the bank and in the seagrass to 4 m in the trench to the right of the peninsula. The bed is quite soft, but harder spots can generally be found near the boulders scattered along the bottom.
PEG 2: ARÔME LAKE LODGE
Ondine lodge is a three-star peg. You can fish from the terrace or the jetty—a big rod pod is required. Here, you can fish in a shallow bay to the right, from a bank with dense vegetation on the left and, if no one is occupying peg 1, you can go as far as the seagrass beds on the bank to the south. The banks have a lot of vegetation, and the fish move around it. The two clumps of trees on the left are prize positions. There are some groups of fish around the boulders, particularly under the willow along the peninsula and the third group of trees on the left.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 3 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces north, and you can fish from the left bank swept by the prevailing winds, as well as the bay at the entrance, which is sheltered from the cold winds.
Surface area: 12 m²
Water depth : Average 3.30 m. The depth varies from 2.7 m to 3 m in the muddy area and decreases towards the centre of the lake, becoming sandier. The banks are rather deep, which attracts fish all year round.
IDYLLE LAKE
Idylle Lake is the wildest lake, perfect for anglers who love a challenge! Dead trees have piled up, giving this a pioneering river feel. There are few openings for fishing, so the pegs are very close to the fishing swims, making it easy to fish with brakes on, sitting behind the rods. If you love nature, secluded pegs like the one on our island, and a little bit of solitude, this lake is made for you.
Idylle is a wild gem of a place. It is full of beautiful pedigree fish, with a native stock of fully scaled with an average weight of around ten kilos that stand out by their beauty and fighting spirit. Idylle also has some long, massive, very dark fish that can reach 27 kg, but on account of the wild, rustic nature of these specimens, there are no koi carp here.
PEG 3: IDYLLE LAKE CULBHOUSE
This peg allows you to fish a very calm section of the lake between a bank with dense vegetation and an island, sheltered from the dominant winds. This area is also covered with seagrass, where the fish love to swim and warm up at the start of the season. The left bank allows you fish a great stretch of the lake with lots of deadwood. The tip of the island on the left is a strategic point of the lake with lots of traffic on the second drop off. The seagrass is a great place to fish all year round as it is very persistent here. The right bank is very crowded with fish for anglers who love a challenge.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : Facing west, this peg receives the winds from the west on its left side, but it is completely sheltered from the cold winds.
Surface area: 30 m²
Water depth : Average 2.50m. The depths can vary, from the soft mud on the crowded banks to the hard mud on the banks of the island.

PEG 4: IDYLLE LAKE BEACH
This peg offers a multitude of fishing spots on the left, like the bay entrances and the island tips where you can easily find an area with a lot of fish. In the open water, a pebbly patch about 30 metres away is home to crayfish, and sometimes the fish come to feed right up to your feet, since this is a winter feeding spot. The fish love to come to the tip of the island as well as its margin. The island is shared with peg 5. To the right, the lake margin is too densely vegetated to fish in a way that is risk-free for the fish. The shore opposite can be fished if peg 3 isn’t occupied. It is easy to fish, whether casting from the shore or by dropping from a boat.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces south, hence its beach-like atmosphere.
Surface area: 40 m²
Water depth : This part of the lake is quite regular, with an average depth of 2.8 m on a bed of sand. The margins are comprised of various drop offs of 50 cm and 1.8 m with very hard pebbles. This peg is sheltered from cold winds.

PEG 5: IDYLLE LAKE ISLAND
Fishing is done face-on. This steep bank has a lot of vegetation, and the fish spend their day in the shade. These areas are relatively muddy, but some small, hard 20 cm shoals can be found about 10 m from the edge. The fish come out of the branches night and day for visits. The peg on the island also allows you fish the right side of the second island, which pegs 4 and 3 cannot reach. It is easy to fish, whether casting from the shore or by dropping from a boat.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : The island peg is very wild and faces north, so you can fish over the entire sunny bank.
Surface area: 50 m²
Water depth : Average depth 3.00 m. With a depth of between 3.2 m and 3.5 m, the area is rather muddy, but some hard 3 m shoals can be found away from the branches. The right-side area is 2 m deep and quite soft and muddy.

PEG 6: IDYLLE LAKE NYMPHE
At about 40 metres, a very sharp, sandy drop off plunges down towards the muddier lakebed. The island’s margins are choice areas, but the fish regularly come to the Lodge’s edge, where it is not rare to see them jumping. The left margin is very densely vegetated and risky due to the angle. It is shared with the island peg. It is easy to fish, whether casting from the shore or dropping from a boat.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces east, but the entire fishing area is a giant sand and seagrass bed. This area is sheltered from cold winds, and the fish come in day and night as soon as the weather is nice.
Surface area: 30 m²
Water depth : Average 2.80m. This peg offers the two extremes in terms of depth and substrate. The sandy plateau between the lodge and the island is 1.4 metres deep with the seagrass. The big drop off takes you down to a depth of 3.4 m.
PALMYRE LAKE
Palmyre lake is the lake offering the biggest yields and has the largest stock. Its rectangular shape allows easy fishing by casting from the shore. It has an island in its first third, and some of the shore has been left wild to avoid any overlooks. Two lodges on the lake make it excellent for families and all-nighters.
PEG 7: PALMYRE LAKE NYMPHE
This peg is on the deepest part of the lake, but it is also a feeding point for the fish. The left and right banks have reedbeds full of life and deadwood. Short-distance fishing is easy by just casting. The fish move around a lot between the front of the jetty and the right bank. You can move towards the right edge of the island, but it’s not the best side.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : This peg is completely sheltered from the cold winds since it faces west. It regularly gets a lot of wind in spring and summer. The right bank is sunny all day long.
Surface area: 30 m²
Water depth : Average 4.50m. A few metres from the jetty, the depth exceeds 4 m before climbing little by little towards the shores. The edges of this trench are particularly clean and hard. Watch out for the deadwood covered in sharp zebra mussels.
PEG 8: PALMYRE LAKE LAUNCH
A perfect peg for Lotus lodge. Located on the same side as peg 7, this is a pebble beach with rather dense vegetation on the left edge that runs along a path. The right side is the beginning of a very productive trench, and you can fish right up to the left tip of the island, which is by far the most productive with a small beach.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : This peg is completely sheltered from the cold winds since it faces west. It regularly gets a lot of wind in spring and summer. The left bank is sunny all day long.
Surface area: 25 m²
Water depth : Average 4.50m. The depth varies from 4 m toward the trench before slowly climbing back up more gently to 2 m near the left bank.
PEG 9: PALMYRE LAKE PONTOON
The pontoon peg is located in the middle of the lake and can easily be shared by two people given the great number of fishing swims. It faces the sunny bank where the fish swim all day long. The bank with somewhat dense vegetation opposite can easily be reached by casting and offers great potential for performance fishing. On the right, the tip of the island is a perfect spot for whoever finds the sandy area. On the left, a sandy shoal can be found at 40 m, and a patch of clay behind the shoal is a very productive spot, especially in the winter.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : Facing north, this peg allows you to fish its banks in the sun all day long. At the end of the day, the sun’s rays hit the end of the pontoon, and the fish swarm to your shore.
Surface area: 30 m²
Profondeur d’eau : Average 3.00 m. The bed slowly sinks to the beach and climbs up in two steps on the opposite bank. The left sand shoal emerges 2 m below the surface.

PEG 10: PALMYRE LAKE DYKE
This peg is along the axis of the lake, offering many possibilities for two anglers. The left and right margins are places where fish pass all year round. Several harder spots can be found in the open water, with the end of a sand bed shared with the right peg in the middle of the lake.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : Facing east, this peg receives the cold dominant winds. Nevertheless, the fish stick around the peg’s margins on either side.
Surface area: 40 m²
Water depth : Average 3.50 m. The bed is relatively sandy with some pockets of clay. Near the shore, there is a first drop to 1 m, often with vegetation, then a gentle incline towards 3 m.

ATOLL LAKE
Plunge into the azure waters of Atoll Lake! It derives its name and its wonderful colour from its shallow depth and an almost entirely sandy bed. Five islands split the lake into several different parts of varying depths. Atoll has many lagoons that extend up to the Villa where the fish swarm. If you want to fish with your feet in the sand and look out over turquoise waters with a view of our islands covered in pine and rocks, this is the lake for you.
Atoll lake has a diverse stock of pedigree mirror and common carp, as well as much bigger specimens that exceed 23 kg, including one magnificent mirror that weighs nearly 28 kg. Atoll would not be this paradise of southern waters without a few colourful fish! This lake teems with around 30 magnificent koi.
PEG 11: ATOLL LAKE BEACH
As its name implies, this peg can be described as a beach. On its right, there is a bank with dense vegetation that overlooks the deepest part of the lake. There is a densely vegetated island facing the peg surrounded by plateaus of sand and deadwood, and there is an island very close by to the left. Fishing is difficult on the right side due to the angle, but the shore at the end on the right is very productive. It is rather muddy, but some harder shoals can be found where many fish come to visit. The big island is quite muddy as well, but the area on the right has more hard shoals about ten metres from the edge. The small island on the left has a beautiful, stepped point, and the shallow sandy channel is a place where koi pass through easily seen.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces south, receiving sunshine from morning until evening. The entire right side receives a lot of cold wind. Despite this, the fish seem to come here throughout the year.
Surface area: 40m²
Water depth : Average 2.50 m. The whole of the open water in front of the peg is by far the deepest part of the lake, with 3.6 m on the right-hand side. The drop off by the big island is quite steep, but there is no drop off on the right side, where there is a big, hard plateau over the entire lakebed, and the bottom bank forms a softer trench.

PEG 13: ATOLL LAKE UNDERBRUSH
This shady peg allows you to fish near the two big islands, depending on the nearby pegs, as well as at the lagoon entrance and the spawning ground, which are areas of passage for big fish.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces northeast and can be fished in any weather. The beds are mainly sandy, which makes fishing easier. The margin areas around the island can be harder or softer depending on the foliage.
Surface area: 20 m²
Profondeur d’eau : The bed varies little at this peg, going from 1 m for the water inlets to 2 m near the peg.

THE LAGOON
The lagoon communicates with Atoll Lake and is an exceptional place where the schools of grass carp come to spend the winter.
PEG 14: LAGOON LAKE CARPE DIEM VILLA
The lagoon is an artificial paradise and a peg that is not to be underestimated. Many fish swim throughout the year, but especially when fishing pressure is heavy at Atoll Lake. The fish love to spend time between the deep areas sheltered from the wind and the shallower area of the cascade. The beds are uniformly sandy, which makes fishing easier
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : This lagoon is relatively spared the wind; the peg faces north and is very peaceful in summer. Depending on the weather, you can fish the deep areas as well as the beach areas.
Surface area: 55 m²
Water depth : Average depth 3.00 m. The lagoon is split in half: one part is comprised of beaches that softly slope with a bit of seagrass, and the other part that is steeper with some low walls. The depth can reach 3.8 m in the middle at the start of the season.
LAGON LAKE
Lagon Lake is a gem of a place with a sophisticated range of beds, wild shores, seagrass, as well as the particularity of being home to Marceline, the domain’s biggest specimen. Half of the lake has wild, steep shores, and the other half beaches. This lake is the closest to the common buildings and is easier for boat fishing. Lagon is the destination for anglers who love a challenge.
Lagon Lake has a natural stock of small commons, but when it comes to mirrors, the scales go crazy with two specimens over 25 kg, including our mascot Marceline, who weighs nearly 30 kg. Lagon also has a beautiful stock of koi including the Beluga, a magnificent white koi measuring nearly one metre long that resembles the famous whale.
PEG 15: LAGON LAKE BEACH
The beach peg overlooks a big part of the lake, especially the two left shores if you use a watercraft. The submerged trees towards the site’s entrance attract a great deal of carp. The hard areas are easy to find without having to go into the branches. Big seagrass can be found throughout the water with many small sandy shoals.
Conditions : 2 anglers – 4 rods max
Orientation : The beach peg faces north and allows you to fish the southernmost-facing shores.
Surface area: 40 m²
Water depth : Average depth 3 m. This beach peg softly slopes toward the first seagrass at a depth of 2.80 m to reach about 4 m. The opposite shores are rather deep, between 1.20 m and 2 m.

PEG 16: LAGON LAKE CHALET LODGE
This peg is by far the most vigorous of the site. The opposite shore is located a few dozen metres away, but deadwood is everywhere. The two shores are quite steep. The one under the vegetation is a feeding area in the winter that is heavily visited by even the biggest specimens. The opposite shore offers sandy areas under the branches that are cleaned by the fish. Fishing with the brakes on is required for what resembles river obstacle fishing.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : This peg faces east, which allows you to fish on the shore that is the least exposed to cold winds.
Surface area: 10 m²
Water depth : Average depth 2.00 m. This part of the lake is rather winding since many shoals split this tail of the lake and can range in depth from 1 to 3 m.
PEG 17: LAGON LAKE BEND
This peg is an excellent passageway and allows you to fish over a 90° angle. The right side is rather clean and offers the safest fishing until the dead tree 100 metres away. Out in the water, the sand ridge and shoal begin on your left to finish towards the middle of the lake and the seagrass. The left bank has much more vegetation and is harder to fish, although there are plenty of specimens there. Also, don’t forget to fish in the margins since the fish come very close to the peg. The fish swim from left to right depending on the changes in the wind.
Conditions : 1 angler – 3 rods max
Orientation : Orientation: This peg faces southwest, offering a magnificent panoramic view of the domain. It is sheltered from cold winds, faces the sun, and has a lot of trees to boot.
Surface area: 20 m²
Water depth : Average depth 2.50 m. The left and right shores are on rather steep slopes that reach 3 m. The dead trees on the left offer nearly 2 m under their branches. The sandy shoal facing you rises to 1.80 m during the high season. The fish do swim on the shoal, but mainly around it.
ROSELIÈRE LAKE
Roselière Lake is our smallest and most shallow lake with an average depth of 2.40 m.
It has a variety of banks, some of which are mainly dead wood and vegetation, others with soft sloping sands and, of course, big extensive reed beds.
WILD LAKE
This lake is the wildest of the domain because it has a lot of reed beds, a high bottom, a lot of grass which favours the well-being and the reproduction of the fish and improves their natural habitat with the contribution of many insects.
This lake is full of about 60 carp with sizes and weights that can reach over 25kg.
Come and fish for carp with our tour operator THE CARP SPECIALIST, with a fishing station that can only be booked by biwi and is fully equipped with a barbecue, gas hob, sink, electricity and dry toilets. However, guests can have access to a dedicated communal sanitary area: shower and WC.
This lake has a walking path which allows you to see the lake from different angles.
